UFC President Dana White described the upcoming fight as "huge, were very excited." Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Forrest Griffin did not disappoint UFC fans Saturday night at the sold out Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. An instant candidate for fight of the year saw the two light heavyweights shock the MMA world and go the full five rounds. Jackson entered the fight as the light heavy weight champion coming off wins against Chuck Liddell and Dan Henderson. Griffin had worked his way up to this title shot after winning the first season of the UFC reality show "The Ultimate Fighter." The fight started off quickly and as anticipated both men came out firing away and it was Jackson striking first. He landed a devastating uppercut that took Griffin down and looked like it would seemingly be another quick KO win for "Rampage." Griffin did what so many have failed to do against Jackson and that is get back up after taking his best shots. Griffin just kept moving forward throughout the entire fight landing some devastating kicks to Jackson's knee which were clearly causing significant damage. He even nearly got Jackson to submit to a triangle. Forrest kept on "Rampage" for the duration of the five round fight and took the unanimous decision in one of the most exciting fights in UFC history. “This is the greatest night of my life, I want to thank Quinton Jackson. It was close and I think we’re gonna have to do it again," said Griffin in his post fight interview. Forrest will most likely have his first title defense against the winner of the Liddell vs. Evans fight on September 6th.
